Ganzhou: Vast Stretches of the'Panda of the Plant World' Found in Remote Mountains

The Chinese yew is often called the "panda of the plant world", a "living fossil,” and"botanical gold." Highly sensitive to its environment, it is listed as a first-class nationally protected plant in China.

In 2022, a wild Chinese yew forest was discovered deep in the mountains of Huichang County, Jiangxi Province. The site is home to more than 3,000 trees, including specimens over 1,200 years old. The presence of this rare plant community reflects the area's well-preserved ecological conditions. 

Recently, reporters paid a visit to this unique site.

南方红豆杉素有“植物界大熊猫”“植物活化石”“植物黄金”之称，对生存环境要求高，是国家一级重点保护野生植物。

2022年，江西省会昌县深山中发现一片野生南方红豆杉林，共有3000多株，其中最年长的一株树龄已超1200年。这一珍稀植物群落的存在，是对当地优良生态的天然认证。

日前，记者走进曾被一代伟人毛泽东赞为“风景这边独好”的会昌，遇见这片“独好风景”。
